Barrel - Modeling Assignment

For this assignment, you will be demonstrating your understanding of the levels of detail and basic modeling tools for the real time rendering pipeline. You are to create a 3D Model, with large, medium, and small details using Maya 3D modeling software. Create materials and render in Adobe Substance 3D Painter. 

For successful completion of this assignment, you will need to:

  • Create 3D Mesh in Maya
    • Have a clean/closed mesh
      • No n-gons
      • No holes (water tight*)
    • UV unwrap Model
  • Create Materials in Substance Painter
    • using masks create 2 material type layers for Wood and Metal parts of Barrel 
    • Render Model in Substance Painter

In class we tackled the barrel using the Extrude Tool, the Insert Edge Tool and learned how to remove Edges/Verts (ctrl+Backspace).

Be sure to resolve the presence of any N-Gons or floating/hidden geometry. This will affect your grade.

Advice: it's better to keep it simple. If you are unsure, delete the problematic faces or area and start again.
